Billing and your free trial

Start the trial, manage your card and invoices, cancel, and what happens if a payment fails.

Updated 2 minutes to read

Paid costs $9.99 per user per month, with a 14-day free trial and no automatic per-document overage charges. Business costs $49.99 per month with one seat included; extra seats cost $9.99 per month. Everything to do with money lives on Settings → Billing.

Starting the trial

  1. Open Settings → Billing and choose Start 14-day free trial.
  2. Enter your card on Stripe's own secure page. Card details never touch EsignCenter.
  3. You come straight back and the paid features are on. The billing page shows the day the trial ends and what it will cost after that.

We ask for a card at the start because the trial turns into a subscription when it ends. Cancel before that day to avoid plan charges. Optional API packs are charged immediately, including during the trial. There is one trial per account, ever.

Managing your subscription

Manage billing opens the Stripe Customer Portal, where you can update the card, download every invoice and receipt, correct your invoice details, and cancel. Seats are not editable there because your seat count is simply the number of people in your account — see Teams and seats.

Plans and API capacity

Paid includes 50 API completions a month; Business includes 500, per billing account. API, embedded signing and MCP count once at the first signature per document lineage. Allowances reset on the first day of each UTC calendar month. Documents already sent always finish. Open API documents reserve capacity until signed, declined, expired or archived. At the allowance, new API documents pause; corrections of signed documents and in-app Resubmit remain available.

In Billing settings, upgrading to Business charges the prorated difference now. Moving to Paid takes effect at renewal with no credit, and Business capacity stays until then. Recurring API packs cost $9.99 per month for 50 extra completions. Each added pack costs the full monthly price now, with no proration, and is available after payment. This applies during a trial too: packs are paid for when added, the trial continues, and packs renew monthly once it ends. Removing packs takes effect at renewal. If your API capacity is set by an agreement, contact us to change it. Purchase controls appear when the plan or packs are available.

Cancelling and refunds

You can cancel at any time. Your paid access continues to the end of the period you have already paid for, and then the account moves to the free plan. Nothing is deleted: every document, template and export stays readable, downloadable and exportable. Cancelling during the trial avoids plan charges but does not automatically refund API packs already purchased. Refunds for duplicate or erroneous charges and refunds required by law are unaffected. After the trial there are no prorated refunds for a period you have started — the exact wording is in the Terms.

If a payment fails

A failed renewal does not take the product away on day one. Stripe keeps retrying the card and you get 14 days of grace, during which everything works exactly as before, paid features included. We email your administrators 4 times in that window, each message naming the date the account would be suspended and linking straight to the billing page.

On day 14 the account becomes read-only, and nothing more than that: everybody can still sign in, read, download and export; a signer already holding one of your documents can still finish it; nothing new can be created. Paying lifts it automatically, within seconds — no support ticket, no manual step.

Going back to free

When a paid plan ends, your free-plan month starts at that moment: you begin at 0 of 5 completions and 0 of 15 sends, whatever you did earlier in the calendar month. The free month still ends with the calendar month. See Free plan limits and the pricing page.
